For a long time, I wasn’t interested in getting a gym membership.
I was sure it would be a waste of money.
I doubted that I’d ever go to the extra time and effort to drive to the facility when I can easily workout at home. I’ve invested in some basic equipment and can manage a beneficial workout on my own. I can always go for a run, jump rope, ride my bike, do crunches or push ups and get my heart rate elevated. I had no plans to ever try out the gym until my husband bought me a year-long membership for my birthday. Since he’s very aware of my commitment to keeping in good physical condition, it was a really thoughtful gift. I didn’t want him to think I didn’t appreciate it. I decided to make sure he got his money’s worth. I made the commitment to drive to the gym at least four days per week and spend an hour there each time. Once I started working out at the gym, I understood the benefits. I found it difficult to only spend an hour there. I just love having access to such a variety of state-of-the-art equipment. There’s rows of treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, rowing machines and all different kinds of bikes. There’s machines that work all the different muscle groups as well as punching bags, dumbbells, kettlebells and battle ropes. There’s even an indoor track and a rockwall to climb. I can sign up for yoga, pilates, spin and all sorts of group classes. I have access to tanning and massage therapy. I have maintained my gym membership for five years.
