After college, it took me several years to get myself out of debt.
I had a tremendous amount of student loans to pay off.
When I started my job, it didn’t pay much and I moved into the only apartment I could afford. It was a cramped, rundown space with leaky faucets, no air conditioning and a door that didn’t close properly. As soon as I started making some decent money, I started searching for better accommodations. I ended up moving into a large apartment complex with every imaginable convenience and luxury. I now have access to an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, barbecue grill, sun loungers and patio area. Inside the apartment, I have washer and dryer, two full bathrooms, an extremely modern kitchen setup and even a private balcony. Within the building, there’s a game room, conference room and a fitness center. The fitness center is my favorite feature. I don’t need to pay for a gym membership or drive to a facility. There’s rarely anyone using the equipment. It’s as if I have my own private gym, equipped with state-of-the-art machines and accessories. There are several treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and a stairmaster. There’s free weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands and even battle ropes. I can workout whenever I want, whether it’s early in the morning or middle of the night. I can workout for as long I want and take my time with my warmup and stretching. When I first moved in, I was only planning to live at the apartment complex for a year or two. I’ve now been there for five years, and I am not ready to move out.
