The battle against poor indoor air quality has been one we have fought for several years.
The smell has been the big problem. Yet, this was prior to the pandemic and my learning of the importance of good indoor air quality. We are in a region where the heat is, by far, the biggest mover when it comes to the weather. The HVAC cooling comes on in March and doesn’t go off until at least mid November. And even then, there are days where it will cycle on and off some. Due to this amount of HVAC cooling, it is imperative that our home is sealed up really tight. Doing so gets the maximum efficiency from the HVAC. And with the utility costs around here, that is a must. The problem is that we just don’t get that much fresh air in the house. So a few years ago, we looked into having a whole house air purifier installed in the HVAC. Well, we just never pulled the trigger on that because we were a bit hesitant of the price tag. There were some other priorities that required that type of investment. But with the advent of the pandemic, we changed our tune. The price for having great indoor air quality is no longer a concern. This is because it isn’t just about the odors. The whole house air purifier is giving us the best chance at helping our immune system strengthen. Sure, we are thrilled that our house smell so clean and perfect. But it’s the quality indoor air that is boosting our immune health that we are the most grateful for.
